It is the process of removing the frenulum tissue. Frenulum is the name given to the soft tissue that connects the lip and gum, which can be seen under the tongue or between the upper and lower incisors.
This muscle attachment can sometimes be too strong and can cause gaps between the teeth or restriction of lip and tongue movements.
If the frenulum tissue is longer or thicker than normal, it may need to be removed.
The frenulum can be removed especially when it causes a gap between the two upper front teeth and when frenilum movements are considered to disrupt the presence of adherent gingiva of implants or natural teeth.
The frenulum under the tongue, also called the tongue tie, can cause speech difficulties and restriction of tongue movements in some cases. It can also cause gaps between the upper and lower incisors and between the teeth when it is thicker than normal.
No pain is felt thanks to the local anesthesia applied. In our clinic, frenectomy procedure is performed in a short time and painlessly with the latest technological devices such as laser when necessary.
